In order to give clients and member firms more time to prepare for the new product, the Singapore Exchange plans to postpone the launch of futures contracts including iron ore and freight from Feb, 25 to April 8. SGX said that it cleared a record 18.2 mn t of iron ore swaps in January trumping an earlier record set in September. The exchange clears over 90 per cent of globally traded iron ore swaps. Top government sources stated that the Adani and Essar Ports has received an approval from the union home ministry to participate in the Rs 4,000 crore mega container terminal project at Chennai Port.Chennai Port plans to set up a mega container terminal, with a capacity of 4 million TEU (Twenty foot-equivalent units).
