In a major relief for the power starved Bihar, the State government now expects the renovation and modernisation work of its thermal power plants at Muzaffarpur and Barauni to be over by the end of this calendar year. These plants will provide at least 400 MW to the state, which is already reeling under major power crisis.

Nabinagar Power Generating Co awarded an order worth over $350 million or around Rs 2,251 crore to Alstom Bharat Forge Power for a supply of three 660 MW supercritical coal turbine islands.Nabinagar Power is a joint venture company between Alstom and Bharat Forge. Government-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) on February 5 said it has bagged a Rs 2,854 crore contract for setting up a 1,980 MW thermal power project in Bihar. BHEL said in a statement that it has bagged a contract for supply of the Steam Generator Package for three coal-fired thermal units of 660 MW each.

Nabinagar Power Generation Company, a Joint Venture of NTPC and BSEB, Bihar has achieved financial closure for Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project consisting of three units of 660 MW each. The project is situated in the Aurangabad district of Bihar. A loan agreement for Rs 8,775 crore in this regard was signed with Rural Electrification Corporation. Read more...
