New flyover costing in N Chennai

The work on 600 m long four-lane flyover on Grand Northern Trunk (GNT) Road-Madhavaram High Road intersection in Moolakadai, Chennai will begin next week. The total cost of the project is Rs 50 crore, of which Rs 33 crore will be spent for construction. The remaining amount is the cost of land acquisition. The highways department has reportedly issued work orders to Consolidated Construction Consortium, and the work is scheduled to be completed in 18 months from the date of commencement.

The flyover will have significance as the GNT Road-Madhavaram High Road junction is one of the highly congested zones in north Chennai. Residents of places like Vyasarpadi, Madhavaram, Perambur, Kolathur and Red Hills regularly use these roads and the junction often witnesses traffic jams, even during non-peak hours.
