Road project worth Rs 14 bn planned to link new Orissa ports
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) have agreed in principle to go ahead with the project entailing an investment of Rs 1,391 crore to provide port connectivity to the upcoming ports in Orissa.
Seven upcoming non-major ports like Dhamra, Gopalpur, Kirtania, Chudamani, Astarang, Baliharchandi will be benefited under the scheme. The massive port connectivity project would be undertaken soon. The NHAI authorities have decided to invite RFP for feasibility study and preparation of detailed project report for four-lane connectivity.
Chief Secretary Bijay Patnaik has held discussions with top NHAI officials and requested them to favour Odisha, which is turning out as a hub of port activities.
