APTranscoÆs Rs 940 crore project seen by 2014
In order to improve power transmission network in Hyderabad, APTransco is implementing a Rs 940 crore project and expects to complete it by June 2014. The state distribution company has laid an emphasis on strengthening the transmission system, keeping in view of the rapid increase in demand for power in towns and municipalities. The project involves setting up gas insulated sub-stations and augmenting extra high tension transmission system by setting up an underground cable network in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits. This is being funded by the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA). The new sub-stations under transmission system modernisation and strengthening project will significantly improve transmission infra in the city. As part of the project, APTransco officials would visit Germany for study of underground cabling system and would also visit Egypt for discuss issues on power sector there.
