R-Power commissions wind project in Maharashtra

Reliance Power has commissioned its 45 MW wind power project at Vashpet in Maharashtra for an investment of Rs 300 crore. The wind power project consists of 18 wind turbine generators, each having a rated capacity of 2.5 MW. The power from Vashpet project would be sold to Reliance Infrastructure for distribution to Mumbai in line with regulated tariff structure of the state. The project is registered as a Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project with the UNFCCC and is expected to earn 1.6 million carbon credits during its operations phase.

Reliance Power already operates a 40 MW solar PV project in Rajasthan, and with the commissioning of the 45 MW wind power capacity, its operating renewable capacity will be double, i.e., 85 MW. The company is also looking to increase its clean and green footprint by adding more renewable power to its portfolio. It also uses advanced technologies for all its capacities to reduce carbon emissions.
