NHAI to speed-up 17 road projects

By Rahul Kamat

With the new road and transport minister taking over, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is gearing up to reconsider 17 key road projects. These projects were either surrendered by the contractor or work was going at a snail’s pace due to right of way, arbitration or inter-ministerial issues. These projects worth Rs 16,000 crore with 1,779 km of length will finally witness some traction. Interestingly, all these projects were awarded in the last two years.

According to an NHAI official, projects like Kishangarh-Udaipur-Ahmedabad (Rs 4,284 crore), Shivepur Devas (Rs 2,815 crore) and Barwa-Adda-Panagarh (Rs 1,665 crore) would be the first ones to see some action.
