VAG corridor likely to start soon
By Rahul Kamat
State-run Railway Board has given final security clearance to commence operations on the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar (VAG) corridor to Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd. It means that the Metro project can now be started any time soon. However, when contacted, a Mumbai Metro One official, said that the company is yet to receive a "clearance letter" from the Railway Board. A copy of the clearance letter is in possession with Infrastructure Today. The letter suggests that the Metro will run at a maximum speed of 50 km/h subject to terms and conditions given by the Research, Design & Standards Organisation (RDSO). The letter also stated that the MMOPL should get all its maintainance manuals and instructions related to rolling stock approved by RDSO and also to develop a mechanism to get various maintainance practices audited periodically by RDSO.
